Role of an Authorized Marriage Officiant in Ontario


As an Authorized Marriage Officiant registered in Ontario, my duty is to solemnize marriages in strict accordance with Ontario’s Marriage Act and all applicable provincial regulations, ensuring your marriage is legally valid and properly registered.

My services include:

- Providing clear guidance on Ontario marriage legal requirements, including eligibility, documentation, and timelines.

- Reviewing and validating the Marriage Licence before and on the day of the ceremony.

- Solemnizing and officiating the marriage ceremony in compliance with provincial law.

- Ensuring accurate completion and execution of all required legal documents, including signatures by the couple and witnesses.

- Issuing the Record of Solemnization of Marriage on the ceremony date as an official keepsake.

- Submitting and registering the marriage documentation with the Office of the Registrar General of Ontario.

- Advising the couple on obtaining the official Marriage Certificate following registration.

My role is to ensure that your marriage is lawfully performed, correctly documented, and officially recognized by the Province of Ontario



Legal Requirements in Ontario

To get legally married in Ontario, you’ll need the following:

1-A valid Marriage Licence
(Visit the ServiceOntario Website)




2-Two witnesses
 (must be 18 years or older)




3-Valid identification for each partner – two pieces per person
- Passport
- Driver's license
- PR Card
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Birth Certificate (with secondary ID)
Note: Health cards and SIN cards are not accepted.

Answers to your common questions about marriage in Ontario
To obtain a Marriage licence in Ontario, you and your partner must apply through your local municipality or ServiceOntario.
Each of you must bring two original, government-issued IDs (one with a photo). If either partner was previously married,
original divorce documentation (or certified copy) must also be provided.

After the ceremony, we send the documents to the Registrar General within 48 hours. It usually takes 8
to 10 weeks for the government of Ontario to register the marriage so you can order the Marriage
Certificate.

Yes. With our Personalized and Premium packages, our officiant can travel to your chosen location, such as your home, a park, or an event hall.

Ceremonies can be held within Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including areas near Yonge & Steeles, North York, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, Mississauga, Brampton, and surrounding communities.

Please note that travel fees apply for ceremonies held outside our office area and are calculated using a zone-based system.
The final travel cost is always confirmed with you before booking.

A $250 deposit is required to secure your date. Cancellations within 10 days of booking are refundable minus a $100 fee. After 10 days, all payments are non-refundable. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks before the ceremony. Written notice from the bride and/or groom is required.

The minimum required time between submitting an application and holding a marriage ceremony is one month.
For urgent or expedited marriages, the minimum timeframe is one day.
