Marriage Registration in Ontario — Legal, Simple, and Respectful
As a Licensed Marriage Officiant in the Province of Ontario, we provide complete, lawful, and culturally sensitive marriage registration services — fast, accurate, and fully recognized. Whether your marriage is new or took place abroad, we help you make it official, permanent, and legally protected in Canada.
Marriage Licence Information (Ontario)
To be legally married in Ontario, you must first obtain a Marriage Licence. Bring valid identification, such as your birth certificate, passport, or immigration record, for both applicants. Once your ceremony is completed, your officiant will submit the licence to the Office of the Registrar General in Thunder Bay within 48 hours. Your official Marriage Certificate is not issued automatically; you must apply for it about 12 weeks after your wedding.
After Your Wedding Ceremony — What Happens Next
This is your personal proof of marriage — please keep it in a safe place. (Note: this is not your official Marriage Certificate.)
Ontaris will mail your completed Marriage Licence to the Office of the Registrar General in Thunder Bay within 48 hours.
Your marriage will be officially recorded, but you will not receive any confirmation notice from the government.
This certificate is required for name change, immigration, banking, insurance, and other legal procedures.
It is the couple’s responsibility to apply for their Marriage Certificate or name change.
Ontaris ensures that your Marriage Licence is submitted accurately and on time to the Registrar General.
